📶 SIM Cards and Antennas

Cellular connectivity and antennas configuration for Smart IoT.

SIM Cards Insertion

Smart IoT supports Dual SIM for maximum reliability.

SLOT 0Primary SIM
  • ✅ Carrier with best coverage
  • ✅ First connection option
  • ✅ Always required
SLOT 1Backup SIM
  • 🔄 Alternative carrier
  • 🔄 Active if SIM0 fails
  • ⚡ Optional but recommended
💡

You can use only SIM0 if redundancy is not needed. Dual SIM is ideal for critical fleets.

External Antennas (Optional)

Smart IoT includes internal antennas, but allows external antennas for special cases.

External GSM Antenna

SpecificationValue
ConnectorSMA
Impedance50Ω

When to use:

  • 🚛 Armored vehicles
  • 📦 Metal containers
  • 🏭 Industrial installations with interference

Installation: Mount on exterior of metal compartment with clear view.

Internal antennas work well in most installations. Use external ones only if there are coverage or precision issues.

Physical Location and Installation

✅ Do
  • Under dashboard with access to connectors
  • Internal antennas oriented to sky
  • Protected from moisture
  • Away from heat sources
❌ Avoid
  • Fully metal compartments
  • Near engine (excessive heat)
  • Areas exposed to water
  • Behind thermal windshields

Dual SIM Configuration

After physical installation, configure the Dual SIM behavior:

Basic commands

// View active SIM >QSIM< // Force SIM 0 (primary) >SSIM0< // Force SIM 1 (backup) >SSIM1<

Automatic failover

For automatic switching when a SIM fails, configure the event engine:
